Charged Up Suryakumar Appeals For Field Obstruction, This Happens Next

The Asia Cup 2025 final match between India and Pakistan turnd out to be a tense and controversial affair. The two arch-rivals faced each other for the third time in the tournament on Sunday in Dubai. During Pakistan's innings, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav grabbed attention with an appeal for "obstructing the field" against Salman Ali Agha. The incident occurred on the first delivery of the 16th over. Salman played a shot towards extra cover, off Axar Patel's bowling and ran for two runs.

Surya, who collected the ball, threw it towards the striker's end in an attempt to run Salman out. However, the throw struck Salman while he was completing the second run.

Suryakumar immediately ran towards the umpire and appealed for obstruction of the field. The on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire. Replays showed that Salman had not changed his running path deliberately, and he was rightfully declared not out.

Earlier in the day, Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl first against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.

In an interesting move, Ravi Shastri and Waqar Younis conducted the toss interviews with both captains separately. This was done after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requested the Asian Cricket Council to appoint neutral presenters for the title clash.

After winning the toss, Suryakumar explained his decision to bowl first. He also confirmed that all-rounder Hardik Pandya would miss the final due to a niggle.

"We will bowl first. It looks like a good wicket, and it tends to get better under lights. We've been batting well first, but today we want to chase. The groundsmen have done a terrific job with the pitches here. The brand of cricket we've played over the last 5-6 games has been excellent. Unfortunately, Hardik misses out with a niggle. Bumrah, Dube, and Rinku come in," said Surya.

Suryakumar's Handshake With PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi Gets Brutal Reaction

Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricket team captain at the Asia Cup, was in focus on Tuesday at the captains' press conference. Ahead of the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan on September 14, India's T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav, emphasised that aggression is essential in cricket and believes that without aggression, it's challenging to succeed in the sport. India will kick off their campaign against the UAE on Wednesday in Dubai, whereas Pakistan will clash with Oman at the same venue on Friday. "Aggression is always there on the field, and without aggression, I don't think you can play this sport, and I am sure I am very excited to take the field," Suryakumar Yadav told the media.

Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha responded to Suryakumar Yadav's comments, emphasising that every player is distinct with their own approach to the game. "You don't need to say anything to any player because everyone is individually very different. If someone wants to be aggressive on the field, they are more than welcome to do that," Agha told the media.

Even after the press conference ended, the duo was in the limelight. Salman went off the stage even as other captains were shaking hands. That led to social media chatter that Suryakumar and Salman ignored each other. However, it was later seen that SKY and Salman had indeed shaken hands off stage. Another video went viral, where Suryakumar Yadav can be seen greeting Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Asian Cricket Council chief. That gesture was not well-received by most on social media.

In their previous clash in the T20 Asia Cup back in 2022, Pakistan got the better of India, defeating them by 5 wickets. Mohammad Nawaz was named Player of the Match for his 42 runs off 20 balls with the bat and a wicket with the ball.

India will play their final group-stage fixture against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. After the group stage, the tournament will proceed to the Super 4, where the top two teams from each group will qualify.

If India finishes at the top of Group A, all of their Super 4 matches will be held in Dubai. If India finishes second, one of their Super 4 clashes will be held in Abu Dhabi, and the remaining two in Dubai. The Super 4 stage will run from September 20 to 26.

Dubai will host the final, which is scheduled for September 28.

Team India squad for Asia Cup: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson (WK), Harshit Rana, Rinku Singh.

Reserve players: Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Salman Objected To Malaika's Outfit In Munni Badnaam Hui, Reveals Director

As Dabangg gears up to mark its 15th anniversary, director Abhinav Kashyap has opened up about some behind-the-scenes stories from the blockbuster. One of the highlights of the film was the chartbuster item number Munni Badnaam Hui, featuring Malaika Arora. However, the director revealed that convincing Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan to let Malaika be a part of the track wasn't easy.

What's Happening

  • Speaking to SCREEN, Abhinav Kashyap said that both Salman and Arbaaz initially had reservations about Malaika doing the number. According to him, Arbaaz wasn't comfortable with his then-wife being labelled an "item girl," while Salman raised objections over Malaika's outfits in the song.
  • "Arbaaz and Salman, no matter whatever they say, are actually very conservative Muslims. Malaika also had her own differences with Salman over her outfits. They want their women covered up. So, they didn't want her to do the item song," the director shared.
  • Abhinav added that it was ultimately Malaika's confidence that led to her casting. "But, Malaika is a strong and independent woman, she makes her own choices. When she was offered this, she said yes. It took some persuasion for Arbaaz to agree. She told him that it's nothing vulgar, just dancing only, and it's all family around in the song, what are you scared of? And of course, that song went on to break so many records," he said.
  • The filmmaker also mentioned that Salman altered the original vision of the track by insisting on appearing in it, which reduced Sonu Sood's screen space. "Salman insisted that this is the best song, I have to be in it. So, I made him arrive a paragraph before in the song," Abhinav further revealed.

Background

Abhinav Kashyap chose Malaika Arora for Munni Badnaam Hui because of her proven dancing skills in songs like Chaiyyaa Chaiyyaa and Hoth Rasiley. "She didn't do much acting roles. We needed someone who can carry the song well on her shoulders. She is a great dancer. Someone who is less on the camera, people get more curious to see them," he explained.

Interestingly, Sonu Sood, who played Chedi Singh in Dabangg, had earlier said that the song was originally meant to feature him with Malaika. However, Salman stepped in, leaving Sonu disappointed at the time.

Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora were married in 1998, and after 18 years together, they separated in 2016 and officially divorced in 2017. Despite going their separate ways, they continue to co-parent their son, Arhaan.

1st Time In ODI History: SA's 26-Year Old Star Shatters Huge World Record

South African batter Matthew Breetzke continued his dream run in ODI cricket, becoming the first player to register scores of fifty-plus in each of his first five ODIs. Breetzke accomplished this feat during his side's second ODI against England at Lord's on Thursday. In the match, Breetzke went on to score 85 in 77 balls, with seven fours and three sixes at a strike rate of over 110. However, an absolute peach of a delivery from pacer Jofra Archer meant he missed out on his second ODI ton.

Also, his score of 85 is the highest by a Proteas batter in an ODI at Lord's, surpassing Herschelle Gibbs' 74 runs in 2008.

Also, he has joined the elite list of Jonty Rhodes, Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen for securing joint-most fifty-plus scores for South Africa in ODIs.

Now in five ODIs, Breetske has scored 463 runs in five innings at an average of 92.60, with a century and four half-centuries, with the best score of 150.

Coming to the match, England won the toss and elected to field first. A 73-run opening stand between Aiden Markram (49 in 64 balls, with six fours and a six) and Ryan Rickelton (35 in 33 balls, with five fours) started things for Proteas. Later, half-centuries from Breetzke (85) and Tristan Stubbs (58 in 62 balls, with two fours and a six) and a quickfire 20-ball 42 (three fours and three sixes) from Dewald Brevis proved to be instrumental in taking Proteas to 330/8 in their 50 overs.

Jofra Archer (4/62) was the pick of the bowlers for England, while spinner Adil Rashid (2/33) also delivered an unbelievable 10-over spell for the Proteas.

England need to chase down 330 to save the series which they are trailing by 1-0.

Boney Kapoor Confirms Diljit Dosanjh's No Entry 2 Exit

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2005 blockbuster No Entry has hit a roadblock as actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has stepped away from the project. The movie, directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Boney Kapoor, was set to roll in October 2025 with a new cast featuring Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor.

What's Happening

  • Confirming that Diljit Dosanjh is not a part of No Entry 2, Boney Kapoor told NDTV, "Yes, we have parted in good spirits as the dates were not aligning with our requirements, hopefully, we will soon do a Punjabi film together".
  • Reports suggest that Diljit's packed schedule, particularly his Aura Tour across Australia and New Zealand from October 26 to November 13, clashed with the film's shoot. The actor-singer is currently one of the busiest names in both music and cinema, balancing back-to-back projects with his international tours.

Background

At a recent event, Boney Kapoor admitted that not being able to bring back the original trio (Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan) remains a sore point. "Yeh humara loss hai that we could not retain the same star cast. We waited for almost 8 to 10 years but somehow things didn't happen. We will miss them. And now we are trying to give a fresh start with a younger lot of actors. But at the same time, we will miss Salman, we will miss Anil and Fardeen. They were the original three boys in No Entry. And they were most loved," he shared.

The original No Entry, which also featured Bipasha Basu, Esha Deol, Lara Dutta, and Celina Jaitly, completed 20 years on August 26. In 2024, Boney Kapoor and Bazmee officially announced the sequel with a younger star cast, promising a fresh spin on the comedy that became one of the biggest hits of 2005.
